I have a SuperMemo course on a CD with the SuperMemo UX program that I can’t install. What can I do in this situation?
SuperMemo courses available on CD-ROM or DVD-ROM were created for older applications, such as Multimedia SuperMemo or SuperMemo UX, which have not been supported or available in SuperMemo's offering for many years. Between 2018 and 2020, we allowed users to migrate to the new SuperMemo.com platform, with full transfer of access to their courses and learning progress. After 2020, the SuperMemo UX program stopped being supported, and migration is no longer possible.
In practice, these courses can still be used if they were previously installed on a Windows system and the environment has not been changed or updated by the user. However, reinstalling courses once sold with SuperMemo UX, which were copy-protected, is typically no longer possible. Therefore, old, often used CD-ROM or DVD-ROM disks with SuperMemo UX, for example, resold on auction platforms, may no longer work.
What can you do?
- If you've just made such a purchase, file a complaint or request a return at the place of purchase (e.g., in an online bookstore or on an auction platform).
- If the course was purchased directly from SuperMemo and you have proof of purchase, send a message to Contact - SuperMemo, and we will present the available options.
- If you don't have proof of purchase but can reasonably prove the purchase of a legal copy, regardless of the source and time, you can also find out the available options by sending a message to Contact - SuperMemo.
